Leland

He was born into a Christian home but realized early on a need to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He surrendered to preach as a teenager, but it was not until his freshman year of college that he allowed God to take hold of his future. Leland is an avid learner and bowler.

Naomi

She was also born into a Christian home with two parents who served in the U.S. Navy. She was saved at five years old in Awanas class. She was planning to go to John's Hopkins to study medicine and become a doctor, but God changed her life's plans and gave her a desire to serve him in ministry.

Church & Marriage

Leland and Naomi's families both moved to Crossroads Baptist Church when they were teenagers. They met in church, as they were actively involved in many church ministries, and dated throughout college. They were married in 2004 by their pastor, Dr. Lou Baldwin.

Lincoln & Lauren

God blessed Leland and Naomi with two wonderful children, Lincoln and Lauren. Both have made professions of salvation and are actively seeking and following God's will for their lives.

Brazil Church Planting

In 2014 God called the Johnsons to leave North Carolina and go to Brazil as missionaries where they served until 2023. God blessed them as they learned Portuguese and were able to minister across the country. They planted the Igreja Batista Nordeste in the city of Salvador which continues as a lighthouse for Christ.

2023 and Beyond

Naomi suffered serious long-term health issues due to Covid-19, which made it necessary for them to return to the United States. This came as quite a blow to the Johnsons, but even though God closed the doors on Brazil, He has opened another door to serve with Macedonia World Baptist Missions as the West Indies Field Director as well as the Deputation Director. God opened this new door so that many more lives can be impacted and more people called to serve the Lord on the mission field.
